Apolipoprotein A5 (ApoA5) is fast gaining attention as a key regulator of serum triglyceride concentrations. An ApoA5 mouse knock-out model produced an approximately four fold increase in serum triglycerides, whereas a knock-in model with human ApoA5 produced 5070% lower concentrations of mouse serum triglycerides. In addition, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor- agonists, which are used clinically to lower serum triglyceride concentrations, cause increased ApoA5 mRNA expression. Despite these compelling molecular biology data, relatively little is known about ApoA5 protein in human serum. This antibody pair detected recombinant apoa5 protein in sandwich ELISA format and could be potential reagents for the development of clinical diagnostic kits.

Beta-galactosidase is an exoglycosidase which hydrolyzes the β-glycosidic bond formed between agalactose and its organic moiety. It may also cleave fucosides and arabinosides but with much lower efficiency. It is an essential enzyme in the human body. Deficiencies in the protein can result ingalactosialidosis or Morquio B syndrome. In E. coli , the gene of β-galactosidase, the lacZ gene, is present as part of the inducible system lac operon which is activated in the presence of lactose when glucose level is low. It is commonly used in molecular biology as a reporter marker to monitor gene expression. It also exhibits a phenomenon called α-complementation which forms the basis for the blue/white screening of recombinant clones. This enzyme can be split in two peptides, LacZα and LacZΩ, neither of which is active by itself but when both are present together, spontaneously reassemble into a functional enzyme. This property is exploited in many cloning vectors where the presence of the lacZα gene in a plasmid can complement in trans another mutant gene encoding the LacZΩ in specific laboratory strains of E. coli . However, when DNA fragments are inserted in the vector, the production of LacZα is disrupted, the cells therefore show no β-galactosidase activity. The presence or absence of an active β-galactosidase may be detected by X-gal, which produces a characteristic blue dye when cleaved by β-galactosidase, thereby providing an easy means of distinguishing the presence or absence of cloned product in a plasmid. E. coli β-Galactosidase consists of 1,024 amino acids with molecular mass of 116 kDa and functional form is a homotetramer.

Novel Juice is a non-mutagenic fluorescent reagent that produces instant visualization of DNA bands upon Blue Light or UV illumination of agarose gels. Supplied in GeneDireXs 6X DNA Loading Buffer, Novel Juice can be used to prepare DNA markers and samples for loading on agarose or polyacrylamide gels. We believe Novel Juice is the most sensitive stain available for detecting double-stranded DNA (dsDNA). It also contains three tracking dyes (Bromophenol Blue, Xylene Cyanol FF, and Orange G) for visually tracking the DNA migration on your gel without illumination. It is a safe , non-hazardous alternative to Ethidum Bromide, having been independently tested.
Background Info:
[APPLICATION] (1) Vortex Novel Juice for 10 seconds prior to use. (2) Dilute 1 part Novel Juice with 5 parts DNA sample or ladder and mix. (3) Load sample and run according to your standard lab procedures. (4) After electrophoresis, remove the gel and place it on UV or a visible-light transilluminator to visualize the bands. (5) Gels can also be post-stained with Ethidium Bromide if desired.

The NSR Prestained Protein Ladder is a three colour protein standard with 13 prestained proteins covering molecular weights from 3.5 to 245 kilodaltons. It has been designed for use in most general applications for a protein ladder with a broad range of protein sizes, key reference bands and excellent Western transfer efficiency (tested with PVDF, nylon and nitrocellulose membranes).
Background Info:
Most of the proteins are covalently coupled with a blue chromophore apart from two reference bands, one stained red at 75 kDa and one stained green at 25 kDa for easy reading of the ladder and to aid in the monitoring of protein separation.
The NSR Prestained Protein Ladder is supplied ready to use in gel loading buffer.
