RAb-50 reacts with SAD-Vnukovo and Pitman-Moore strains of rabies virus. It shows conformation dependent specificity for the viral envelope glycoprotein. In immunofluorescence test, SAD-Vnukovo strain is recognized by the antibody, while in Western blot, both strains are recognized by the antibody. In ELISA only SAD-Vnukovo strain is recognized. RAb-50 can neutralize the CVS strain of rabies virus.

Laminin is a glycoprotein (Mr 850 - 1.000 kD, consisting of 3 glycosylated polypeptide chains with molecular weights of 440 and 225 (2x) kD) produced by various human epithelial and mesenchymal cells, and forms an extracellular matrix of thin filaments. In normal tissues, laminin is invariably present in all basal laminas surrounding muscle, nerve, fat and decidua cells and separates epithelial and endothelial cells from abutting connective tissues. Laminin has also been identified within the cytoplasm of breast epithelia, stromal cells of the endometrium, and within endothelial, bile duct epithelial and mesenchymal cells of the liver. Laminin has been found to be involved in cellular activities such as adhesion, spreading, differentiation, polarization, proliferation, locomotion, tissue invasion and chemotactic responses. <br />No cross reaction was obtained with human type I, III, IV and V collagen in immunoblotting, whereas the antibody reacted with a distinct band of appr. 200-220 kD from a 8M Urea extract from amnion basement membrane. GIP occurs in endocrine cells in the small intestine. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. It is found in secretory vesicles of neurons and endocrine cells. This gene product is a precursor to three biologically active peptides; vasostatin, pancreastatin, and parastatin. These peptides act as autocrine or paracrine negative modulators of the neuroendocrine system. Two other peptides, catestatin and chromofungin, have antimicrobial activity and antifungal activity, respectively. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Steroid receptor RNA activator 1 (SRA), with 237-amino acid protein (about 27kDa), belongs to the growing family of functional non-coding RNAs. SRA was originally described as the first functional noncoding RNA able to specifically coactivate the activity of steroid receptors. Specifically, SRA exists as both an RNA transcript that forms a complex with steroid receptor coactivator-1 and as a stably expressed protein. Its expression is strongly up-regulated in many human tumors of the breast, uterus, and ovary, suggesting a potential role in pathogenesis. Although coactivation of steroid-dependent transcription by SRA is accompanied by a proliferative response, overexpression is not in itself sufficient to induce turmorigenesis.
