Aspartate Transaminase (AST) and Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) Colour Endpoint Assays

The MaxDiscovery™ Aspartate Transaminase (AST) and Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) Colour Endpoint Assays from Bioo Scientific allow the visible detection of in vivo toxicity using only 5 µL of serum from rodents or other mammals.

Employing simplified endpoint analysis these assays offer high sensitivity, low detection limits and of course the ability to use a visible plate reader.

Also both kits contains ready-to-use product standards for the development of standard curves and accurate calibration of the assay.

Lactate-dehydrogenase-assay

Liver toxicity is the largest cause of attrition among new drugs under development. Our new AST and LDH kits provide researchers with powerful tools to identify toxic effects and adjust therapeutic formulations to minimize toxicity. These powerful tools for the detection of drug-induced toxicity to the liver and heart can be used for preclinical testing in the drug discovery process.

The MaxDiscovery™ Aspartate Transaminase (AST) kit permits quantitative visible determination of AST in a convenient format.

Unlike previous LDH tests, the MaxDiscovery™ LDH Color Endpoint Assay kit measures the direct chemical conversion of LDH and does not rely on coupled enzymatic amplification for its high precision, quantitative measurements.

Other Color Endpoint assays also available: Alanine Transaminase (ALT) and  Alkaline Phosphatase (AP)

Endpoint Assays are the latest addition to the extensive MaxDiscovery™ line of toxicity assay kits from Bioo Scientific. For additional information about any of these kits please click the links above or use our contact form.

MaxDiscovery™ Caspase-3 Assays

Caspase-3 is a ubiquitously-expressed cysteine protease involved in programmed cell death (apoptosis). In nonapoptotic cells, this enzyme exists as an inactive zymogen known as procaspase-3. Intracellular procaspase-3 is activated when cells are committed to die via apoptosis; induction of the cell death machinery eventually triggers activation of the zymogen by proteolytic cleavage of the zymogen to an active heterodimer comprised of 17 kDa and 12 kDa subunits.

The active enzyme cleaves a number of intracellular protein targets important for cell survival. Therefore, monitoring caspase-3 enzyme activity is a fundamental means to measure apoptosis in cells. This assay is an important tool for apoptosis research as well as investigating the apoptotic effects of experimental drug formulations and cell transfection.
